Marama Origins Indonesian Rum
Marama Origins Indonesian Rum is the result of the integration of the key elements of the Indonesian archipelago: sugar cane, the climate and the volcanic soil.
The harvesting of sugar cane and the island’s tropical climate, combined with heavy monsoon rains that penetrate into the very depths of the volcanic rock soil, creates the ideal conditions for producing rum with the very best raw materials.
Marama Origins Indonesian Rum is distilled in a system of continuous columns, which results in a complex product with multiple layers of flavours. The alcohol is aged for several years in American oaks barrels. During the production process, extracts from exotic plants and fruits characteristic and native from the area are added, to give unique aromas and flavours.
Made with unique indigenous ingredients and special local flavours such as Galanga Root (Blue Ginger) and Vanilla, Marama Origins Indonesian Rum has sweet notes with a hint of spice, making it easy to drink - even on the rocks!
Marama Origins Indonesian Rum is available at Cuba Libre or on ECWines.Sg.

]]>Single malt whisky has gained popularity in Singapore in recent years, with a growing appreciation for the complex flavors and aromas of this famous brown spirit. While Scotch whisky remains a top choice for many, other countries such as the United States and Japan have also produced their own versions of this beloved drink, inspired by the rich history and tradition of Scotch. Whether enjoyed neat or in a cocktail, single malt whisky is a favorite among Singaporean whisky enthusiasts.
There’s undoubtedly immense pleasure in whisky, but not all are created equal — there’s a whisky style for all palates, budgets and occasions. The best of the best? That’s single-malt whisky. Here is all you need to know about single-malt whisky. If you want to enjoy such a special beverage while reading this article, explore our whisky selection in Singapore at Eclectique Wines & Spirits.
All types of whisky are similar in many ways, but they’re also vastly different. All whisky starts with malted grains, mostly rye, steeped in water and fermented. The resulting alcoholic beverage is then distilled to get a high-proof spirit. The last step of the whisky-making process is aeing. Wood barrels give colour, flavour and complexity to whisky, and the longer the aging process, the more the influence of wood in the spirit.
Scotch whisky is made in Scotland, a relatively small country with few producers; there are only 143 distilleries in the country. Over time, it became traditional to share and blend the spirits from different distilleries to create more complex beverages. This is the origin of blended whisky.
However, most distilleries, or at least the most prominent ones, produce a whisky style that they don’t blend with others — a house style now known as a single malt. Now whiskey producers make single malts in other countries, and they’re well worth trying.
Single malts are not only a spirit made in a single distillery, but they must also be batch produced in a pot still with 100% malted barley. Blended Scotch might use lesser grains. Single malts must also be distilled and matured in oak barrels in Scotland, and they must age for at least three years — many distilleries age their single malts for more extended periods.
In essence, a single malt is the flagship whisky of a distillery, and it’s often the most interesting and exciting. Of course, there are fantastic blended whiskies on the market. However, there’s something special about single malts that capture the imagination of whisky enthusiasts worldwide.
Lothaire Tourbe Whisky Single Malt de France. Scotland is not the only country making superb single malts. French distillers with experience in making prestigious Cognac make excellent grain spirits. Lothaire has an exquisite sense of place, described with spices and cedar scents over a honeyed palate.
Hatozaki Pure Malt Japanese Whisky. Hatozaki Pure Malt has a rich profile of sweet cereals and malty dried fruit with a light touch of smoke and honey on the finish. All Hatozaki whiskies are the result of a twofold blending process. This two-fold process allows for the complexity and balance so prized in Japanese blended whiskies.
Glen Kirk Speyside Single Malt 12 Years Old. Straight from the heart of Scotland, Glen Kirk is a notable distillery, and its 12-year single malt is incredibly complex and rewarding. Expect fruit and oak spices over a mellow palate blessed with bee’s wax flavours and hints of flowers.
The Johnny Hepp Single Malt. This is a specialty from Alsace, the French region with a German soul. Here, whisky is not an afterthought, and Johnny Hepp’s Single Malt can compete with the best in Scotland. Expect orchard fruit, cereals and spices in every sip of this elegant whisky.
Tharcis Hepp Single Malt Sherry Cask. This is a single malt whisky from Hepp distillery. A slightly spicy and peppery floral nose. A very fruity mouth with woody and toasted notes.
Singapore has become a hub for single malt whisky enthusiasts, with a growing number of bars and shops offering a wide range of options. Single malt whisky is highly valued for its unique character and flavor profile, with each distillery producing its own distinct style. Whether you're a seasoned collector or a newcomer to the world of whisky, there's always something new to discover and enjoy in Singapore's vibrant whisky scene.
If you want to experience the universe of single malts, start with one that captures your attention — they all offer a lovely expression of what malted grains can become. You can continually expand your experience by tasting others. EC Wines is a reliable source of single malts in Singapore and a wonderful place to start your journey.

Sauvignon Blanc was discovered growing wild on the shores of the Loire Valley in France, where it is still planted. Its name comes from the French term ‘Sauvage,’ which means wild. Grape growers soon adopted this wild grapevine and turned it into the region’s flagship grape — the Loire Valley’s darling. The appellations of Pouilly Fumé and Sancerre are amongst the best sources for the grape. Of course, Sauvignon’s fame caused people to experiment with it elsewhere. Wine is a natural agricultural product. Producers harvest grapes, press them and ferment their juice to get wine. This is how people have made wine for thousands of years. However, science has helped and in some cases, hindered the relatively straightforward process.
Today, people make regular wine with additives, preservatives and intrusive techniques that make it more stable. However, these additives and processes change the wine’s personality. For example, pasteurising the wine, using cultured yeast, or adding sulfites to preserve it are standard practices that make wine, in a way, unnatural. Having said that, natural winemakers make wine the old-fashioned way, with no additives — not even sulphites, the most prevalent antioxidant and preservative used to make wine today. They also used organic grapes, resulting in unique beverages.
Natural wine has gained popularity for its health claims. Although commercial additives and preservatives used in regular wine are not necessarily bad for you, some people might be allergic to some substances — people attribute headaches and hangovers to sulphites.
Natural is always better, which applies to everything we eat and drink. However, the best thing about natural wine is not its health benefits but its personality — it is a more accurate expression of the grapes and the land, which the French call ‘terroir.’ Natural wine, when done right, tastes like regular wine, but it is better in many ways!
Krontiras Malbec Natural Organic Biodynamic. Argentina is at the forefront of the Natural Wine Movement in South America. Red, white and rosés show beautifully when made non-interventionally. That’s the case with this plummy red wine with ripe black fruit, spices and violets on the nose and palate. Enjoy with grilled red meat.
Krontiras Doña Silvina Skin Contact Chardonnay Natural. Kontriras Winery also produces a rich Chardonnay with natural techniques, and they macerate the grapes to give it textural complexity. This bold white wine offers golden apples and white flowers over a creamy palate for the perfect partner for grilled pork and roasted birds.
Krontiras Afron Pet Nat Aglianico. This naturally sparkling wine is fizzy and lively, offering exciting acidity and white fruit aromas. This Pètillant Naturel is made with organic grapes farmed biodynamically, with little intervention.
Although commercial wine still dominates the market in Singapore, there is a growing interest in natural wines among wine enthusiasts. Natural wines, which are made with minimal intervention and without the use of chemicals, are becoming recognized as a better and more exciting product. While still rare, natural wines can be found in select wine shops and restaurants throughout the city.
Natural wine doesn’t contain preservatives and might develop faster than well-preserved commercial wine, but just like craft beer versus commercial beer, it’s worth the risk. Opening a bottle of natural wine is always an adventure, and it will keep your senses sharp as you discover the true essence of your favourite grapes. Buy natural wine in Singapore at EC Wines, and let us introduce you to the curated wine category.

Pinot Noir produces light- to medium-bodied red wines that are pale, often
translucent. The grapes don’t produce tannins or the gritty particles that cause a

Pinot Noir offers red and black fruit aromas, often redolent of cherries, and hints of undergrowth, sometimes as damp earth or mushrooms. Also, since Pinot Noir wines spend time.

enthusiasts and professionals alike. And although some of the most expensive
wines on the planet are made with Pinot Noir, the grape produces wines for all
budgets and occasions. Pinot is best enjoyed with roasted birds, stir-fries, mushroom dishes and comforting stews. When served slightly chilled, these wines are delicious on their own as well. For elegance, versatility and purity, Pinot Noir has no equal. It’s no surprise Pinot is considered a noble grape — there’s no other like it. Rum is a spirit obtained by distilling sugar cane juice and molasses, the by-product of sugar production. These sweet ingredients are fermented and distilled to get a clear spirit that smells and tastes like the tropics. Some types of rum are bottled right after being distilled, but others spend months or years in barrels, gaining aromatic complexity and colour.
Rum is often inexpensive, but that doesn’t mean it is not as good as pricier spirits. The brown spirit is also useful when mixing drinks, as it goes well with a wide variety of mixers and is the critical ingredient in cocktails as famous as the Daiquiri, Mojito and Rum and Coke. Whether white or oak-aged, rum is always easy to drink for its natural sugarcane sweetness.
These are our favourite rums in the most popular categories. You can find these brands and others in our curated rum selection to order online.

]]>Prosecco is the best-selling sparkling wine by volume and one of the most recognized worldwide. Everyone has heard about the Italian fizz, and those who try it fall in love with the first sip.
Prosecco is more than a wine style — it’s part of Italy’s culinary identity and one of their most acclaimed wine styles. Italian elegance and charm are present in Prosecco, and with it, the country’s fashionable lifestyle.
Here’s all you need to know about Prosecco, how it is made, and what brands to try. If there’s a more versatile wine than Prosecco, we don’t know what it is — Prosecco is noble like that.
Prosecco is a unique wine style intertwined with the Italian way of life. Unlike Champagne, Prosecco is not made with the Traditional Method but a more modern Charmat method, in which the wine gets its effervescence in temperature-controlled and pressurised tanks. The process makes Prosecco less expensive to produce than Champagne, but it also makes it more expressive and fruit-forward.
Prosecco is a lovely apéritif for its tight acidic backbone, as it is mouth-watering and sharp. The pale wine is also fruity, and it often shows hints of peaches and green apples. The secret is in the only grape allowed in Prosecco — Glera. You won’t find this grape anywhere but in Northern Italy!
All Prosecco is made with Glera, a green-skinned grape that grows in the northeastern regions of Veneto and Lombardia. However, Prosecco rosé is also available, and it is made with subtle additions of Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir).
Most Prosecco on the market is labelled under the distinguished Prosecco DOC. However, specialised Prosecco comes from smaller areas and holds the DOCG title.
Prosecco also comes in distinct sweetness levels, including Brut Nature, Brut, Extra Dry, Dry and Demi-Sec. This means there’s no one Prosecco, but many, and they’re all worth trying. Prosecco’s quality has increased immensely recently, and it’s now considered among the finest sparkling wines worldwide.
At EC Wines, we offer curated selections of Prosecco, looking for those with the best quality-price ratio. We will continue to provide more extraordinary examples of Italian sparkling wine as well as alternatives from Italy and other countries.
Sgarzi Luigi Perla Bianca Prosecco Spumante. Cantine Sgarzi grows its Glera in Veneto and turns it into elegant extra-dry Prosecco with scents of green apples and pears. This refreshing sparkling wine is delicious on its own, served chilled, and goes great with seafood and fried food.
Other Italian Sparkling wines:
Fontanafredda Contessa Rosa Alta Langa. Fontanafredda produces extraordinary sparkling wine, despite being known for its robust red wines made with Nebbiolo. Contessa Rosa is made with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the style of Champagne.
Other European Sparkling wines:
Mas Fi Cava Brut, Spain. This refreshing Cava from Spain is a suitable alternative to Prosecco. It is made with local Xarel-lo, Parellada and Macabeo in the Traditional Method and is incredibly complex on the nose.
Add a few bottles of Prosecco to your shopping cart from our curated selection and enjoy it with friends and family. Prosecco is more than a fashionable drink — it is also compatible with an immense range of foods!
Prosecco is as easy to enjoy as it is easy to share, and there’s no wrong time for a glass of Italian bubbles. Amateur wine enthusiasts and seasoned wine drinkers enjoy prosecco alike, and it’s because it is a noble beverage — the true essence of Italian wine. Make Prosecco part of your life and enjoy!

French whisky is on par with the country’s wine and brandy, and although it is still not as popular as other whiskies, it is undoubtedly as good as the best. This is what you need to know about French whisky — a secret amongst connoisseurs.
Finding French whisky outside France is rare. After all, French people enjoy whisky like no other country. The quality, of course, is as good as everything French — the country’s gourmand standards are off the charts!
Producers make whisky all around France, from its northern shores to the Alps. Although the whisky industry is relatively young, as it started in the eighties, today, it is significant in terms of volume and quality. Many Cognac and wine producers now make their own whisky with the same standards used in their other products, and most distilleries are exceedingly small. What you get is a collection of terroir-driven single malts and versatile blended whiskies to satisfy the most demanding palates.
There’s no doubt French whisky is as varied as its Scottish counterpart. Here are our favourite French whisky brands, which you can enjoy in our catalogue.
Lothaire Tourbe Whisky Single Malt de France. This extraordinary single malt offers notes of honey and grains over a round palate with stunning persistence. The whisky is produced with grains grown in Lorraine and is named after Lothaire II, King of Franks.
Lothaire Fruite Whisky Single Malt de France. This fruit-forward single malt is also made artisanally in Lorraine and shows hints of roasted nuts and dried fruit on the nose and palate.
Hepp Single Malt Ouisky. This speciality of Alsace, home of fine wine and premium beer, was founded in 1972. This is one of the most significant distilleries in the area, and Hepp Single Malt is known as one of the best whiskies in France.
The Johnny Hepp Single Malt. The Hepp family traditionally makes this unique Alsatian single malt and ages it in Bourbon and French wine barrels for extra complexity and a noticeable layer of brown spices.
Tharcis Hepp Plum Cask Finish. This is the Hepp distillery blended whisky, and it represents the best in their repertoire for the category. The plum cask finish gives this malt a fruity personality.
French whisky is, without a doubt, a premium spirit. The country’s blended malts are delicious in cocktails, while their acclaimed single malts have a sense of place, or what the French call ‘terroir.’ Try French whisky and join a select group of brown spirit enthusiasts that have found in the spirit more than an alternative to Scotch — French whisky has its own merits.
Explore our selection of French whisky and order yours online. Add this fine spirit to your malt collection and compare it with your favourite whiskies. French whisky will not disappoint. Just keep it a secret!
